It would have been enough that Gartner Inc. placed us in their highly influential 2016 Magic Quadrant for Modular Servers. That alone would have been exciting news. We are also very pleased to enjoy a position in the “Visionaries” quadrant. According to the report, “Visionaries have an ambitious vision of the future and are making significant investments in the development of unique technologies. Visionaries may be new market entrants or they may be existing providers who are reinventing their business. Vendors who only address emerging Mode 2 market demands would typically be Visionaries because the market itself is only at a nascent stage. Their services are still emerging, and they have many capabilities in development that are not yet generally available. While they may have many customers, they might not yet serve a broad range of use cases well.”
We believe this recognition by the leading technology industry research and analyst firm adds more momentum to our efforts for expanding beyond our traditional technical and scientific computing markets. Part of our multi-pronged growth strategy is to leverage our supercomputing technology and expertise to also serve enterprise customers.
Our continued commitment to forging the future of HPC is paying off, and we see Gartner’s recognition of SGI as a visionary in the modular server market as validation of our significant progress in providing solutions for the enterprise.
In short, as we continue to execute our strategy to enable the real-time enterprise, this recognition could not have come at a better time. See the SGI press release for more information.
