NASA Ames Research Center, “Pleiades,” Supercomputer from SGI Ranks #13 on TOP500

nasa-ames_hp_647x340_2016At the 2016 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC16), in Salt Lake City, Utah, SGI announced that the NASA Ames Research Center’s supercomputer, “Pleiades,” was ranked #13 and is the most powerful SGI supercomputer on the prestigious TOP500 list.

NASA’s SGI® ICE™ X supercomputer, “Pleiades,” was recognized as SGI’s top ranked supercomputer on the industry-respected TOP500 list.

Pleiades helps the space agency to pioneer the future of space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research through increased computational capabilities. The system supports NASA’s real-world engineering applications and also improves modelling and simulation methods for developing aerospace technologies.

SGI solutions are designed to meet the complex and data-intensive challenges for various government organizations.
